 Hiron Point is a protected sanctuary located on the banks of the Pramatta Kunga River in the Khulna Range in the southern part of the Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world. Nilkamal is another name for one of the UNESCO World Heritage Diamonds.



 Deer, monkeys, guisaps, crocodiles and other animals can be seen walking on the beautiful wooden road at Hiran Point. There is also a watch tower at Keorasuthi, just 3 km from Hiran Point. From the Watch Tower, you can enjoy the natural beauty of the Sundarbans, including Hiran Point.


 Being a sanctuary, Hiran Point has easily become a safe haven for wildlife, reptiles and birds, including monkeys, deer and tigers. As a result, one of the attractions of the Sundarbans is the sightings of animals like Royal Bengal Tiger, Chitra Deer, Large Egret, Kandha Khoncha, Dhyani Buck etc.



 Where to stay 

 There are Tourism Corporation hotels to stay in Mongla and you will find standard residential hotels in the animal port. Besides, there are opportunities to spend the night in different quality hotels located in Satkhira and Khulna city.



 Accommodation is available at Kachikhali at Tiger Point in Sundarbans, Nilkamal at Hiran Point and Forest Department Rest House at Katka. If you want to stay in Nilkamal, it will cost Rs 3,000 per room for domestic tourists and Rs 5,000 for foreigners. Kachikhali will cost 3000 rupees per room and foreigners will need 5000 rupees. It will cost Rs 2,000 per room in Cuttack and Rs 5,000 per room for foreigners.

 How to go
 At present more than a hundred companies are engaged in tourism business in the Sundarbans. You can easily visit the Sundarbans with a good tour management company. Various buses ply from Gabtoli and Sayedabad bus terminals in Dhaka to Bagerhat. Meghna Paribahan (01718-36553) and Paryatak Paribahan (01711-13106) buses leave from Sayedabad bus terminal. Sakura Paribahan (01711-010450) and Sohag Paribahan (01716-79302) buses leave from Gabtoli bus terminal. If you want you can come to Khulna by train from Kamalapur. You will get a launch from Khulna to Rupsa or from Mongla port in Bagerhat to Sundarbans Hiran Point. Apart from this, various boat fares to the Sundarbans are also available from Morelganj and Sharankhola in Bagerhat.
